Caveat emptor, the kit arrived in Seaton today.
What's arrived is the plans, wood pack, spinner and cowl. I would call that a short kit. There is no wire, spars, hinges nor anything to carry on the build to completion, despite me explaining to Sarik that I needed a full kit because of the difficulty of obtaining things here, and, Sarik quoted me for a full kit! 220quid for a pack of bits that I can't use, that's very expensive, no wonder the British hobby suppliers are complaining about lack of orders.
A re-read of the web site with the knowledge I now have shows that they didn't promise anything more. :(
I should have listened to BB and Andy, what a ripoff!

OK Tony, it is what it is, so now what do we do? You could send it all back and ask for a refund....or we could make the kit up for you by comparing the plan with what's missing. I'm not sure how much it would cost as yet, but I can sort that over the next week or so if you want me to. Alternatively, you could send the 'kit' back and we could make up an appropriate pack of bits to make the model - the plans cost £10.00 btw.

What we need to know now is would you like us to proceed in making up a kit for you and if so, what sort of kit and what would be the time scale. Also, how would we get it to you?

Over to you.... ;) ;)

Hi Andy & Tony, I have no idea what size or weight of parcel the Fury kit or accessory pack would be, but I got a quote from Interparcel who get discounted rates from the big name parcel companies. As an example, prices to South Africa for a 5kg parcel 100cm x 20cm x 10cm start at £45.95. I've used Interparcel a lot, and haven't had any real problems. If the accessory pack could be combined with the short kit and sent as one parcel, that is most likely to be the cheapest method.

Tony do you have a record of your conversation with Sarik. If so it should be enough to prove that you did make it clear what you wanted for the agreed price. Would you be prepared to accept the rest of the kit if they were prepared to send it? A bit of pressure might elicit the right response.Say a promise to go public with this. There again would that be legal? Whatever you decide I hope you get it sorted out

Sorry to hear your problems Klipy but I'm not surprised, they do not deserve people's hard rent cash
On a good note, my confession :pinch: my F 104 is a bought short kit
It was from Serdia a guy called Mirce, Mirce Sets his company, he could not have done enough for me
It came while I was in the uk and nat could not get it out of customs because they thought it was worth much more than the 50 euros I said it was, anyway he wrote a letter for the customs and spent 15 minutes on the phone talking to nat to help her out, we go it from them paying duty on the 50 euros
The kit is abserlutely fantastic quality everything is perfect, and all this for 550 euros
The point I'm making is you could not get that kind of service in the uk, and they wonder why they are going out of business
Here's what I got apart from the service

Thanks Robin, that's good to know.
Andy, I see Sarik price the plan at 27.50! not 10Gbp. I appreciate all your offers, as Andy said, it is what it is. Sadly I wont be tempted to buy ex UK again. I got no more or less than the web site promised, my mind saw it differently.
What has come out of this is a Hobby shop in Cape Town has an online order facility, and has most of what I will probably need, I just can't get anything at short notice. I can only start ordering when I get the kit in May when Sissy arrives. Banggood will have anything that the other guys don't. Luckily the build doesn't start until October.

Tony (BB) that's awesome, confession is good for the soul! The UK used to lead the world in the Model aircraft industry, no more it seems.

Is this actually a happy ending to a lousy situation? I hope so. Good old Bang Good. I'm glad I put people onto them. I love them. For example they stock a vast range of of Mini drills, Dremel types, and abrasives Also don't forget Gear Best. A bit dearer than Bang Good on average but still cheaper than most U'K suppliers and sometimes. Only sometimes have things Bang Good don't. Good luck Tony/ :)

A quick update here, my sister has the Sarik kit and all the extra long wood that I need (Sarik refused to give me a list of additional requirements) I'm hoping the Laser 70 I've bought from Phil Claridge will be enough to provide the motive power, and I've bought an Airfix kit in 1:48 scale as a reference.
Where's the best online store to buy the necessary Humbrol paints, both 14ml tins and spray. I need nos 11, 29, 30, 33 and 65. I've checked comparison charts for Revell and Tamiya without much success. I suspect I will cover with heavy weight tissue and dope so will be able to use locally mixed paints for the RC model (I hope).
I intend to use the version supplied to the South African Air Force, No 1 Squadron, 1941 since I would classify it a officially a 'War Bird'
All caveats and support gratefully accepted.
I can probably buy the Humbrol paints I require here, but, the online store want a minimum order of of 125quid for free delivery to my closest town!

Why not use car aerosol paints?
Humbrol are intended for plastic kits, and can be quite heavy on a large area.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!
