I've only just passed my first year of modelling, though did some when I was a tiny kid. So, you're well ahead of me, but like you I am hooked on FF rubber. There's just something weird and wonderful about it.

one tenor wrote: I don't know if they would still be available but in the 50s and 60s there were some very good articles in Aeromodeller and Model Aircraft about making and pretensioning rubber motors and recipes for lubricating them too. I wonder if Andy Sephton has access to them and could make them uploadable. Andy can you ?
I'm not sure why you've posted this question John, I can't see that anyone has asked for the advice. Notwithstanding, most of the old knowledge has now been overtaken by modern methods and materials. Current information is available on the net at a site whose URL I've posted a number of times - The National Free Flight Society Library. The index of which is here:
freeflight.org/library/technical-library/
There are numerous articles on rubber lube and braiding (american for pre-tensioning) as well as a whole host of other useful free flight papers. Be warned, though, as soon as you start looking at the site, you'll spend a lot longer there than you first envisaged.....
