Back to the U2 - You may recall I said the canopy was held on by four tiny little minute black screws -
Well - it is, and it isn't! Those four little tiny minute black screws merely hold two strips of metal onto the sides of the canopy.
Those strips of metal are pulled on by a set of magnets.
So, I didn't need to take them out, at all!
I found this out while chatting to another modeller who has been thrashing one around the sky, and he found out by accident!

What's happening with the leading & trailing edge of that wing Eric? ... is the whole wing going to be sheeted?

I just own the forum .... you guys make it great thanks.

I'm using stealth materials there!
Seriously, the leading edge is simple square strip, set at 45', the t/e is mere sheet top and bottom sanded to a taper. The front half of the wing will be sheeted into a D box. Inset ailerons will be added and cut out, with extra strengthening as needed around the 'holes'.

I'm sure I saw Sarah up on Pendle hill, at midnight! :woohoo:

I used to have a model called a 'Slim Pig', and that flew pretty well. It was a slope pylon racer.

When will my present build be finished - easy! - - - When it is! :P

Still haven't test-crashed the Discus, I'm waiting for the wind to blow in a decent direction!
Since then I've bought a Salto from HobbyKing, and it's rubbish!
The fuselage isn't drilled for the wing locator pegs, although it is for the joiner (a steel rod), and the tailplane isn't drilled, nor is the fuz, for the mounting bolts. There is no way of getting at the underside of the tailplane mount without butchering the fuz, either.
On top of that, when the 'kit' arrived, the tip of one side of the tailplane was broken off, and dangles from a thread of covering material. The 'discussion' with HK continues.

Having had a good think, and a few cups of coffee, I've concluded that the best way to proceed with the main wing is to make a ply root rib, drilled appropriately, then put a 'skin' over it, which will hopefully fit over the glass moulding, so I can drill the required holes.
As you will appreciate, I don't want the wings at different angles, or wobbly!

Found this in the paper shop around the corner. The guy said it was missing a few bits, and too complicated for him, anyway. So I got it for £30!
48" Decathlon.

More later, when I begin to assemble it - (Can't call it a build!)
