A nice sized Bristol Beaufighter

After 3 weeks and a couple of emails it has turned up
 
Unpacking  proved ok, the moulded parts look good
 
Some of the plywood sheets with the laser cutting were badly twisted, so iv dipped them in the water but and weighted them down on the bench
So i suppose when i lift them off they will be stuck to the plasterboard
the rest of the wood looks good 
The plan sheets are 3M long and 1M wide and come in 2 sheets to be joined together, so ill be cutting them up into manageable bits
 

I made a start the parts seem nicely cut, i know iv joined the ranks of the cheaters with already cut parts, only problem there seem to be bits missing , like a former for the fuselage, i did not realise until this morning why it was not looking right , so this is how all the kits if they sold any more must have gone out, so i spent a long time this morning pulling apart what i glued together yesterday, got it put back together minus the missing former
started by cutting some pine blocks and screwing them to the bench on carefully marked distances
 
Then screwing the formers to the blocks
 
dont know if that is the way its done, 
Then added all the stringers
 
Ill get around the missing former with some bracing, the fuselage is all sheeted anyway
The missing part are not even shown on the plan, not good
On the plan it has a one piece wing with half the fuselage fixed to it, even more than the Mossi builds, i dont like that so its getting a 2 piece wing with wing tubes, much stronger

The original used 14 turn 700 motors through gear boxes15x10 props and 24 2.4ah sanyo cells, what is that in new money using lipos and modern motors, i expect it to weigh at around 20lbs, i would like it to use petrol engines if i can get them in the 165mm cowls

I would guess the original setup with 15x10 was near scale diameter and running relatively slowly for efficiency.
With 61 two stroke the prop at best will be a 13x7.
At 20 lbs your are could aim for 100W/lb which gives 2000W say 3hp or1.5hp per side. 
If you are going for petrol (4 stroke?) it might be hard to get sufficient power from a single cylinder and keep within the cowling 

OH DEAR, OH DEAR OH DEAR, iv lost the plot, my brain must be dead, im SORRY Mr Sarick models, iv cocked it all up , after 2 attempts to build the bloody fuselage its still wrong by a country mile, and after all the careful measuring as well, 
I have built it 3" longer than it should be, F___KING HELL 
Now iv got to pick it all apart

I found DLE 30s for £160 but from the centre line of the shaft to the top of the cylinder head is 110mm so the head will stick out the cowl 30mm plus the plug, not good

I will not be flying it anyway so it will be sold, i may as well build as it is designed for electric, and make a box to hold 2 large 6s lipos in the nose, im building it for the pleasure of doing it
Not much pleasure at the moment though picking it apart, managed to stab the scalpel in my finger so its getting painted red
Back on the slabbing today

At the moment iv no idea Tony although a 3 bladed one would look the best, have not decided what im going to do about power, might just leave that up to who ever has it
Iv managed to get it all back together now, i had started the marking out at the wrong spot, such a stupid school boy error, and in the morning i have to take up the slabs i laid today as iv spotted another bloody error iv made today, old age sucks
 
 
I soaked the china ply sarick supplied for the engine formers in the water tube last night and used 2 slabs to press it flat overnight
