3D printing Widgets

I use the same glue as I do on Depron.
 
It has the advantage that it dries rock hard in 24 hours, unlike UHU POR, so works particularly well to hold small components really rigid in foam.

Cyano is OK for PLA to PLA but not with most foams. 

Ah, I think I have a tube of that Techniqll!  Just the info I was looking for.

I get my Technicqll from ebay.
The latest just last week from an ebay store called VOYTO.
An ebay search "VOYTO Technicqll" will find it directly.

Technicqll do a range of different glues but for "foam safe" it has to be "Polyvinyl Adhesive" in the yellow and white 70ml tube.

I have bought a dozen or more over the years all from Ebay and post free! 

The availability of STL files for printing RC model parts has transformed how many folk get models into the air.  One of the classic exceptions when a printed part does not fit with other components in the model.  Tony had a shiny new set of STL files for their next exploration of the sky found that the nose of the fuselage was not a good fit for the spinner of the folding prop.  Rather than live with the extra drag I took it as a challenge to tweak the STL so he could get into the air.I have had the CAD files for some time, to not forget how I did it I created a YouTube video of the method.

The first trial with a truncated cone failed to split apart the STL file. A bit of lateral thinking created a solid body to use with a boolean cut to produce a variant STL that proved to be a good fit.   Hope that these notes might inspire others to adapt if you find a mismatch!  

And, within reason, I would be happy to look at Aeromodeller's  STL parts that might work better if tweaked - no guarantee that getting a better fit might be possible given the many corners of FreeCAD I don't touch. 

As usual, probably easier to see the tweaking process when viewed on YouTube rather than the thumbnail on the Aeromodellers web site. 

I've found a beginner's FreeCAD video which has enabled me to get off the ground, though I still seem to get stuck down cul-de-sacs and/or things don't work. I'm doing a mounting plate along the lines of the one for the FX707 but for my test rig. So far I think I've got an STL file for the backplate. It would be usefull if someone could verify it is a printable file. According to the video I should be able to return to the sketch but I cannot get that to work. His version is different from mine.
I have just tried to attach my file but because FreeCAD has saved it as an .FCStd it won't attach. So I need to find out how to save it as an .STL

I think you will find that such files are not recognised directly by this site but can be down loaded.
This is a screen shot of your stl file down loaded from this site and onto my Free Cad.
 
So it works! 

In Free Cad you do have to "Edit, Select All and Export" to create an Stl. The Stl is stored as a new file which not directly editable in FreeCad.
Note. As long as you have given the Stl exactly the same name as the original FCstd file both are stored adjacent to each other in the Free Cad file list.
Once you are looking at the Stl file in Free Cad you have to go back and open the original FCstd file to make any changes. 
If you do modify the FCstd file remember to "Edit, Select All and Export as Stl" or the changes you have made won't appear in the Stl. It is one of the drawbacks of the file structure in Free Cad.    

I've managed to get back to editing the sketch & now the backplate has the screw clearance holes in it for the CF2822 & the A2212.
My main difficulty is adding the constraints, they seem to have a mind of their own and I cannot find some things like copying & mirroring.
The aim is to stick it onto some polystyrene & then onto my test rig arm so as to reduce the vibration.
The LE2204 has got me frightened!

I am not sure a piece of polystyrene will solve everything if the vibration is severe. 
To be honest if it were me I would simply mount it rigidly on a piece of wood I could hold in my hand. The human hand makes a wonderful shock absorber and the LE2204 is a pretty small motor. Just be prepared to stop if you think it is getting to the point you can't hold it.
In the past I have have hand held an ED 246 Racer diesel fixed to a piece of wood and finger "flick" started it using the other hand.  
Of course as a youth you are convinced of your indestructibility!
