Actually it is optional to transfer between computer and transmitter. I used them separately - on the computer I created the inputs, set up mixes and then explored various settings seeing what the servo movements were in the 'simulator'.  Once I had that, I went to the Tx and setup equivalent inputs and mixes to see what it was like in the actual model.

Once I saw what the model was doing I went back to the computer and tried, for example, different exponentials and then put in those numbers in the Tx.  Ditto for rates.

I discovered one thing - on the Tx I was using a 3 position switch with only the forward and middle defined.  I accidentaly nudged that switch to the back position while getting ready to fly and just in time noticed that there was no elevon movement.  So better to find a two position switch or setup three rates!

Well here i am several weeks after buying the FRSKY radio and still not able to simply get it to bind, iv tried every which way looking at and following the videos on you tube and reading the instructions, but it always ends up with the same result
I mean its not difficult but it will not have it, maybe i should have gone with Futaba i never had a problem with that gear

Strange - I never had any problem.

Switch the transmitter on, and wait for it to start up -
then press menu once. That takes you to the 'page' where you can select different models.
Press page once. That takes you to page 2, titled model set-up.
Press the down button about a million times, till you get down to near the bottom of the list, and can see receiver number - bind - range
Select the receiver number you want, then step across to the bind. the tx will start slow beeping.

Now for the receiver. plug in any one servo, just so you can see if it works. Move the rx about four feet (a metre and a bit) from the tx, or it will swamp it and refuse to work.
Then a lipo and speed controller, plug it into the throttle socket (you need about six hands) or use the easy option of a normal four-cell nimh flight pack and a switch!.
With the receiver switched OFF, press and hold the bind button - then turn the power on.
The flashing light in the rx should go steady. Let go of the bind button, and switch the rx off.

Press exit on the transmitter - twice. That takes you back to page 1
Switch on the rx, and it should be bound.

Remember if the tx and rx are too close together, the rx will swamp and not function.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

The to close together bit, that must be it, must get my roller skates on to dash between the Tx and the Rx, everything else im doing
I moved them apart well apart but get the same result a steady blinking red light and the Tx saying it is waiting for the Rx
Im waiting for the next skip to throw the bloody thing in

I asked the question can the X7 and the X8R work together, yes they can, it sounds like your firmware is not correct.

Do it now, you may never get another chance

It would appear that you have some mixers selected!
You should be able to find a thingy in the settings page that switches all mixers off, and gives you a clean start.
Failing that.- Delete the whole model and start again!

Two possibilities - either you've missed a step in the initial set-up/calibration of the sticks, so you haven't told the tx to use the function on that channel
or
You have the rudder output set to 0% instead of 100%

About exploring the Tx - there is an alternative where you use the 'Companion' software on a computer to setting up a Model and then see what happens with tweaking the settings and mixes and channels. It will display the servo positions as you virtually play with the sticks.  You can then take what you have learned and then apply it to the actual Tx.

That is probably too 'techie' for BB!     - - - - (and me!) - - - On these radio tx's, there is a screen that shows you what the servo movement would be, in the form of a bar-graph - as you move the sticks.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

ERIC are inferring that IM a techie dumb,   you ARE VERY WRONG  about that   im WORSE than techie dumb
The servo movement screen tells me that 2, 3, 4 channels are moving as they are supposed to   except No.1 nothing ???
Also with the Rx showing it is bound none of the servos move at all
I should have spent the extra money and gone for Futaba, in the years i flew it in Cyprus never had a problem with it, except my fingers
