It takes a little time to learn and understand them
Well thats me knackered for a start

T9 dont seem to have a lot of stock in Tx

I must say I'm very happy with my FrSky TX. I like the ability to upgrade the firmware yourself. I tried OpenTX but didn't like it so went back to my full colour version which is a bit heavy on battery usage, only 7 hours, gosh!
The Futaba 6EX is okay, but a bit limited in the screen department. The 14SG I bought from BB is okay but the programming is not very intuitive!

Do it now, you may never get another chance

That's a bit like asking are bananas better than apples!
The only recent Futaba I have any knowledge of is the 6ex, and that is antique now, with only six model memories, very limited mixing capability, and no telemetry.
Modern Futaba - the users seem to spend a lot of time button-pushing, looking through pages of options, to find the one they want.
With Frsky, all the things you use regularly are right there, but you may have to hunt for something a bit obscure - BUT everything can be mixed with everything else, with multiple combinations, and individual fine adjustments of percentages - and you'll have more model memories that the majority of people have models!

I have spent some hours looking around with FrSky related sites. And also OpenTx sites. What was an eye opener is the OpenTx Companion application that runs on a computer and (supposedly) allows you to do the model setup with a proper keyboard and mouse (rather than the screen of the transmitter) and then shift it onto the transmitter. Also seems to support firmware updating.

One site discussed low level programming in OpenTx which sort of made sense. And I suspect that one can get quite a way with minimal playing around at that level.

I have also found some OpenTx sites which have an on-line manual to sort of get the hang of the menu structure. Again at first glance it seems more concise than the 160 pages of the Futaba manual.

I have been collecting up links to lots of current sites with background info, discussions and reviews. Would anyone be interested in me pasting this into a future post?

Jon - BB - I suggest that you start here! - Yes, this is part 2, p1 is all about updating the tx, but if you are buying new, it should already be!

So many of the electronic items we buy today are only loaded with what was current when manufactured therefor the user must do the update process.

Thanks for the video link.

After a couple of days looking around at offerings from Jumper and RadioMaster and other FrSky kit I went for:

FrSky Taranis X9 Lite 2.4GHz ACCESS Radio Transmitter - White (as a change from the usual black) 93.90 quid

FrSky Archer Plus R6 2.4G 8CH ACCESS / ACCST Receiver - 34.90 quid

Got from Flying Tech as they had stock. The main importer has mostly bare shelves.

I really wanted to also pick up a Archer 4CH Rx for simpler models but no one seems to have them. Still, I can go back and look from time to time.

So I have a score of background sources and reading for OpenTx, FrSky to get my teeth into.

I watched the 'what to think about' all the way through. Nicely thought out. I have seen this channel before and watched a few.

I am a pincher - especially after a couple of cups of coffee a thumbs only has lots of jitter.

I don't know where you were looking, Jon. I looked on the website, and the first page of receivers has 13 different models.
