Somedays !!!
i have a contract for repair work for a insurance company.
Insurance companies payout for the resulting damage to watever from a sudden or accidental event. They pay to repair the damage item or items.
This is fine , usually... now if you have a leak behind the wall and it ruins the wall, the carpet ,the company witll pay to repair the wall and carpet.
So if you have a leak you need a plumber. the only way he can access the leak is through a installed shower cubical. so out it comes .bang crash smash. leak fixed . needed one new shower cubicle.
Fine no problem .... who pays for the shower... ?????? interested ,well what do you guys think.

Then after that it was over to replace some polycarb roofing ,damaged by hail. but to get to it we needed to replace the battens holding down the polycarb.
Who pays for the batterns. ???????
Lets see what you guys think.

To me it's down to the Assesor, if he hasn't priced the job right, it's techically his fault! He's a representative of the Insurers, therefore they must carry the can! In my experience you'll find the Insurers and the Assessor spoke to the claimant and warned them about the additional costs, the claiment has 'forgotten'. I used to get that kind of thing when I had a full time panel beater. I learned the hard way, didn't start the job untill I'd spoken with all three. It's amazing the stories that come out.

I had a leak in my flat as I was away for 2 weeks come back and my flat was flooded. And it went to the downstairs flat all so. My step brother took a bit off the celling down and all the celling was still wet. My step brother got in touch with the land lord who owns the flat upstairs and the one that runs the service charge. The one that runs the service charges says that he will pay for the damage from the money from the service charge account or Building ins. Getting a builder in tomorrow to see the damage and see how much it will cost to get it fix fingers cross. If it going to cost to much it will have to go to the ins.

Here to help if I know the answer myself. :)

it works like this.
The insurance pays for the resulting damage from the event. Not repairs from the cause.
So the shower the owner pays for , Shes not happy.
The roof job , they pay for the polycarb and to replace it ,but not the materials that may need replacing on the way to the damage...
Its hard to tell the owners this , their comment is always that why we pay high premiums. they for get that 1 claim can run into tens of thousands of dollars, alot more than the average person will ever pay in premiums.

Here's the Polywagon....put the back seats down and there's loads of model room.
There's no handbrake between the seats (Electronic) so I can get a couple of 90 inch wings in there between the front seats.
