AUSTIN A35 1957 MODEL was created by boz
good afternoon all.
Well I have just embarked out on my new hobby, I'm hoping to restore and run a little old a35, he is of the 1957 vintage making him nearly 60 years old.
I know it's not aircraft related but I'm hoping it will generate some interest from the older members of this forum.
I will post pictures as soon as I take delivery of him, please feel free to contribute to the thread and post any story's and pics of your own, thanks for looking boz

Hi Boz, I look forward to following along. I restored something that contained lots of A35 parts back in the 80's. It is still sat snuggled up in the garage for one day :)

Cheers
Danny

Nothing wrong restoring old cars but do remember the performance standards in 1957 were much lower, especially the brakes! - however there was little mechanically wrong with the "A" series engine which went on being used in new cars for over 45 years. :P :P

As I posted in the Cafe, I used to run an Austin A 30 1953.
I aquired the car when I was a self employed plumber under rather strange circumstances .
In was called to a house in Newark, and the lady had a corroded Rad in the kitchen which had started to leak. She asked for a price which I tried to give her a competitive price for a new rad.
She said she couldnt afford the bill, but may have something I might be interested in. Golly, was she ugly and I nearly ran out of the house, as I completely misunderstood her meaning. She said she had a car which she had no further use for , and would I take this as payment. We went into the garage and a sheet was covering the veh. I pealed it off and underneath was the most beautiful A 30 I have ever seen. Absolutely original and highly polished black. I told her it was worth much more than the price I had quoted, but she would have none of it. I got in and it fired up immediately and ran as sweet as a nut. Kept it for 4 yrs, till reluctantly selling it, and have regretted doing that ever since.

My first motor was an A35, 155HBB was the reg. I wrote it off a couple of months after I bought it in September 1971 when I failed to see a red light......the least said about that, the better! ;)

Looking forward to the thread Boz.

I'm probably wrong, but that white sportster at the top looks more like an Austin Healey, rather than a sprog-eyed fright.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

No fiberglass on the car, looks quite good for its age, bought a sealey 150 welder though as I think there will be some panels to replace, I know of at least two so far, boz
