I was running another car and had taken son to the airport with his new wife in this vehicle, to go on honeymoon
Whilst he was away, we thought it would be a good idea to cut the grass at the house they had just bought which was about 10 miles away from where I lived. However, half way home the clutch started playing up and we just managed to get home before it packed up completely.
I was due at the airport the following day to pick them up on their return and was stuck with no car.
The A 30 wasnt taxed at the time, so without any thought, I took the tax disk from the clutchless car and stuck it in the windscreen of the A 30, and off I went
Bearing in mind, son was, and still is, a policeman and a straight one, he looked at the A 30, and the tax disk from the other car , looked heavenwards, never said a word , got in and there was total silence from the airport to their house.
This transgression has never been mentioned from that day to this , however, I have never done such a silly thing again . I would hate to be a criminal he arrests :woohoo: :woohoo:  [badass]
However, I wouldnt have him any different
Garry

When I re-built my midget engine, I fitted both bronze guides and seats, and I have run on super unleaded since for the last 15 years without problem.
Those wishbones are a poor design in many respects, grease them often (every three months if driving reasonably regularly). The other thing that happens is that the Armsrong lever arm dampers at the top weep oil at the arm seal, so eventually you get no damping. Removing the plug at the top and fill with heavy weight (the heaviest you can get) motorcycle fork oil using a syringe and a short piece of pipe gets you back in business without having to replace them.
I like the A30/35 they were nice cars. My grandad had one and then he had an A40 Farina, which had the handy hatch at the back, that too was a good little car.
