1966 Pattern ship

1966 Pattern ship was created by Ex-Member

Whilst perusing an article on another forum about a new classic aerobat class i remembered i had this plan out in the garage.
swept wing

Now do i consider building one next year or do i not.

i know i have a couple of jobs to finish first, (Lancaster, sea fury, viscount, funfly edf and 2 super scorpions)

But i do fancy the look of this one.

66" wingspan
4 channel
trike u/c
swept wing.

nearly 50 year old design that will have to be brought into the 21st century.

My memory of the pattern ships is one where only the leading edge was swept.... have I got this wrong?
Garry is supposed to be trying to find a modern equivalent of a pattern ship for a forum review on performance..... If that search fails, could this be the alternative Garry?

Sat down and had another look at the plans this afternoon.

worked out motor,esc,servo and battery placement.

If i make the canopy into a hatch, the battery will go where the tank would have.

Made a start on the stab.

then it is sheeted.

That was fairly simple, so i made another one.

they both need sanding to shape next.

might do the fin tomorrow.

well the day was spent sorting out my model collection and getting swmbo off my back.

did get a very small bit done.

started the fin's.

woke up
got out of bed
dragged a comb across my head.
and cut 28 wing ribs for the first wing.

templates.
3 ribs have to have the u/c supports cut out.
and need 3 ply riblets.

then cut the spars and the leading and trailing edges.

started gluing bits together.

one done, started the second now.

hello gentle people and beard.

finished the other wing panel today and joined them together.

fitted the braces and u/c mounts.

starting the sheeting now.

my only worry is that the plan does not show any shear webbing.
i have waved the wing about and it feels quite strong and i expect the sheeting will stiffen it up lots as well.

i will leave as plan.
