The shaping of it indicates that it is designed to apply lots of pressure, but being hard and flat, will create flats when it is used, rather than following contours, great for door panels!
Try gently rubbing the W+D while it is wrapped on that sponge, and as O.F. put, keep it wet with soapy water.
You might be wetting the plug, then dry-sanding, then washing, instead of using WET wet and dry!
It makes a dreadful mess on the floor, though!

Shall we start again, or pick up from where I side-tracked everyone, and pretend that nothing happened?!

Weather was so nice today I was working in my shorts, hopefully the winter is past now and we can get back to 40 deg

It's hard to get an idea of size etc, but for jet carrying 2 or 3kg of extra fuel on take of, I think you might have issues.

succeed in the end, I think
Sheeted the underside of the wing
made another wing tube outer sleeve, came out good
and fit it in the wing
along with a smaller tube near the back
Tack glued the foam block for the wing tip and put my left hand thumb through the sheet, I have little control over my left hand as yet, find things difficult at times with it
The cheep retracts work just fine
Going to line the retract hole where the wheel fits in the wing with thin F/G sheet, so I had a go at making some, laid some brown parcel tape on a flat board then put the cloth on top of it, worked in the resin with my bank card, nothing left in there anyway
I will see if it works tomorrow
