Today i managed to smoke a £70 esc ment for the sr71,
Have i wired it in correctly, i think i have, but i am new to the leccy
The first time i fired it up there was no problem, i got to about 1 thired trottle and the fan came off hit the window and went around the room, no damage to anything including the fan, so i refixed the fan makeing a grove for the grub screws the seat in.
I reconnected the the lipo's and the smoke appeared from the esc with a little twich from the fan.
I dare not run the other one untill im sure i am right.

Eiother the unloaded motor has over-revved and thrown a winding, or the fan blades are not quite central to the duct, and are binding.
if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

I should have said that i am running it on 10 s at the moment one 6s and one 4s
i will use 12s when in the plane
the other thing is that the negative connection sparked when i connected the lipo's to the esc blackening the connector.

Just a thought, have you checked the first motor with a meter to make sure that nothing went wrong with it, when the fan came off.
Also, looking at the last pic again, double check the "deans" conector. It doesnt look right.

If so it begs the question are the ESCs actually rated for 10s LiPo simply for voltage, nothing to do with the current.
