cheers tony, i read somewhere they reccommended 1300 watt and 80 amp esc. will have another look around

At the moment I have a Dualsky 800 w motor installed. This was fitted, as I had it in stock. It will fly it, but is nor powerfull enough for how I want to fly the model. Not sure what i am going to use, as I dont want to change from 4s to5 or 6s lipos, because all the rest of my models fly on 4s,and I have a good stock, ie 16 of them.
The model flys, and that was what i wanted to prove. When i come up with a better motor will post on here.
I have heard that 1300 w is what is reccomended, but will shop arround

Ive been thinking a problem through and havent come up with an answer.I always fit a seperate battery for the retracts,Do I fit it just the same as on an IC although the 2nd battery is a big Lipo.I know about cutting one wire from the retract battery.I can follow the wiring cicuit from my Texan just wasnt sure about the different batteries,.

just run the retracts from the main lipo, that's all Garry does.
the retracts have a stall cut off, so they cant jam and drain the flight battery.

Quite correct Tony. I run the Hurricane and Spitfire retracts from the flight battery. As Tony says the Hurri are electric, and cant drain the lipo, the Spitfire are mechanical and even so have flown for 2 yrs without any probs.

please dont ecourage folk to go thiss way, i have seen the result of doing this, and i wasnt pretty, its the work of a moment to fit another battery, and switch,

I don't believe I am encouraging folks to go this way at all Alan. All I said was that was the way I, myself do it.

It has worked for me for two years,other peeps can do it which ever way they prefer.

its ok with the new lekky jobs, but catch one underart leg on take off, and the stalling servo will drain the battery quicker than the wife draining your wallet, ive got 35years of messing with retracts, its simply not the way to do it, Garry can please himself, he has lovely smooth tarmac to fly from, :)

well this morning i spent 1/2 hour cutting former F4.
then we could join some bits together at last.

i can fit the stingers along the front section next and then sheet it.

got to curve the 3mm balsa sheet for the nose and cockpit area tomorrow.
then i will be back to cutting formers.
