BB, I presume you mean the lines of pot-holes separated by ridges?

  ·   Sad to hear about the incident involving the Avro Triplane IV replica at the Shuttleworth Wings & Wheels Air Show 2026 last evening. Most importantly, we are very glad to hear the pilot is unharmed and has since been discharged from hospital in good spirits. The aircraft involved, G-ARSG, is one of Shuttleworth’s most distinctive Edwardian-era machines. Built for the 1965 film Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines, it was later acquired by Shuttleworth in 1966 and represents A.V. Roe’s 1910 Triplane IV design.A very special aircraft, but the pilot’s wellbeing is what matters most.

Indeed a sad loss.
From the video it looked like he was losing power.
In the final seconds before it disappeared behind the trees it was sinking fast but still in more or less the same attitude.
With a power loss one might have expected the pilot to have dropped the nose a bit to retain flying speed. Without knowing the nature of the terrain it is hard to tell but it certainly looked like he "pancaked" in.
In due course I am sure the AAIB will report in detail.

Reading another (unproven) report, it looked like the rudder (which is very small) jammed in full left, because looking at the flags on the struts, the aircraft was skidding sideways. The pilot also appeared to be holding in full up elevator.
From what I've read, it landed (stalled/mushed down) IN the trees.
From studying the vid, the pilot intended to turn right to come back along the crowd-line, but the (limited) roll control allowed the bank to increase, so he applied left rudder to pick the wing up, which is when the aircraft yawed and skidded to the left.
No doubt the AAB will eventually release a true report.

I have a small video camera which fitted very nicely on my head band with a printed mount in LW-PLA.

But after several winter months sitting idle it no longer works!
Its single LiPo charges and shows 4.17V but it no longer switches on. Rather than waste time I searched for a direct replacement but no luck so I ordered another but a bit different. It was actually slightly cheaper!

On testing it had two issues. a) It was in black and white only. b) When a recorded video was played back it was very jerky. The instructions even mentioned if jerky instal "Storm Chaser" software.
Nuts to that! so I ordered another even bigger and heavier video camera ominously entitled "Law Enforcement".

It even has a screen with an "on screen" menu!
It does work really well although the instructions are complex and printed in an impossibly small font. I even printed a mount in PLA so it can be attached to my head band.

Now that I had a workable video camera I felt confident to take the original one apart to see if I could find out what was wrong with it.
4 tiny screws later!

Actually very well designed and the "on/off" and "mode" switches are true minute micro switches activated by "moulded in" push buttons. The four red circles.
Out of the case the those switches actually worked and brought the camera to life!
The problem was eventually traced to the case moulding for the micro USB socket at the end of the board which was too tight a fit so the board did not seat correctly in the case. This resulted in the case push buttons not lining up exactly with the those tiny micro switches! A couple of minutes with a needle file and the circuit board now does fit and when all reassembled  all the switches work reliably each with a positive "click".

Very satisfying but it did mean I had tbought two new video cameras to get there!

You should know me by now.
Even buying two new video cameras I still spent a good deal less (by about 60%!) than the cost of one new Mobius. QED

Don't throw the camera away yet.
We had a small one which was very handy as it would even fit in a shirt pocket & the pics were ok but after a spell of non-use it wouldn't power up so I put it in the toybox for the grand-kids to play with. Recently a grandson found it & put batteries in it & lo & behold it worked. Whatever software glitch was stopping it had decayed away.

"old" mobile phones, many have pretty good cameras, and work even without a sim card. Sadly, they are not as light in weight as we need sometimes.

Have a nice Day, unless I don't like you.

The weather was just about calm enough yesterday to fly the Canberra PR9 and take a video using the repaired small video camera.

It was late 8pm so the light was not good. Here is the video and edited down from the full 4 minutes flight.
Canberra PR9
Note the roll and loop!
Should be much better with some sunshine and flown lower in calmer conditions.

My 'guest' cats sometimes get a passing mention - but by chance, all four of them were in together this morning - very short vid -

Further info on the 'tube text.
