I have just converted my Centuri Carbon 3D printer from a single filament to four and all done with a conversion kit!

The case and the X,Y,Z stuff is unchanged but virtually everything "electronic" is new!
As the filament feeds now come over the top it will need a big cover making rather than the simple flat glass top it had originally to keep the dust out.
It also requires a software download to actually do anything. I shall have to wait till my computer geek son returns to do that!
He says it can apparently use the house WIFI to "read" the computer files remotely.
For me the big benefit will be able to keep the LW-PLA spool permanently mounted.

I note that Ronaldsway IOM Fire station had a fire that started in a plant room and it took out two fire engines!

On August 12, 2026, Heart Aerospace’s X1 demonstrator completed its first flight from Plattsburgh International Airport in upstate New York, marking a major milestone for battery-electric aviation. The piloted aircraft flew for 27 minutes, reached 1,100 feet above ground level, and operated entirely on battery power, with its electric propulsion system delivering more than 1 megawatt of power during the test. Measuring 106 feet across the wings, 76 feet long and weighing more than 25,000 pounds at takeoff, the X1 became the largest battery-electric aircraft ever flown.Heart Aerospace reported that the flight used approximately $5 worth of electricity. The X1 is a full-scale technology demonstrator rather than a passenger aircraft and is being used to validate technologies for the company’s planned 30-seat ES-30 hybrid-electric regional airliner, which is targeting entry into service in 2031. I do wonder about the safety considerations of such when it is readily producible by anybody with a printer and the pennies to buy the bits.
I am not sure "going ever faster" does the hobby any good in the long run.
