i thought that BB, its just that edf units cost soo much and they produce so little thrust for the noise. :(

well i wont be doing anymore to it now until after the vulcan is finished ( i need more depron) i can have a think and play with some sketches.

depron is soft but once covered it is fairly strong, not as strong as balsa, but then it weighs half the amount. so its a trade off between strength and weight.

i recon the sr71 could be kept under 11lbs if you built it out of depron. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

With a pair of Wren turbines in it? :woohoo:

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

between stretching my back sessions i have been using up the offcuts of 3mm depron on the TSR2 nose area.

ordered some more depron now, so i will be getting the vulcan wings finished over the next couple of days and will get back to this when i am painting the vulcan.

spent the afternoon cutting yet more formers while pva was drying on the vulcan.

once i have updated the plans i can glue the other side of the fuselage together.
then i need to look at the wings, so i can sort the wing to fuselage mounts.

Looks like you need a bigger set square mate........;-)

Notwithstanding, it's looking good and has just given me the inspiration to go upstairs and do some modelling............bfn

i thought to myself "as its only a 50inch wingspan, it can't be that big a model" ha ha ha ha ha .
The fuselage is only 97 inches long so far and it still needs the nose cone making.
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.

now i have a question.
on the original it had an all moving tailplane and fin.
do i try to replicate that or stick to the simpler elevators and rudder system.
also i plan to have flaperons set up on the main wing to help with slow speed flying.

well i have made my own mind up and will stick to conventional control surfaces.
with that in mind i cut the tailplane and fin cores this afternoon.

fin will be mounted like this when it has been skinned and before the last bit of the fuselage is sheeted.

working on the main wing to fuselage mount now and hope to get it sorted Monday/Tuesday.

onwards and upwards. :)

Good decision Tony, you only need an all flying tailplane if you intend to go supersonic............
