Boomerang Sprint

I think I've got my little Ultimate 40 finished, so I'm going to start putting my Boomerang Sprint together. I bought this to replace my Boomerang Intro (not in bad condition, but not new either !!), but unfortunately it has sustained some damage whilst it's been in my shed. Bit gutted, as I'm really fussy about my models, and I can't be doing with something which looks to be repaired.
The model is secondhand, but has only had a few flights. This will be my first jet install with my new Wren 80 (been in its box for over a year !!). Will this be of interest? If not I will just post a picture when I'm finished.

Will be a bit boring to start with as the damage is my first problem. I can't wait to fit the turbine, pipes and wires all over the place.....bliss!!

This will be a good one to follow,yes please,never boring.

I love turbines, especially "WREN" turbines.

Not even started to look at the repair yet, but couldn't resist getting it out of the box.

This is what was blocking the building board. Now residing in the shed waiting for her maiden.



Taken out the main and header tank as the previous owner ran on kerosene or JetA which both stink to high heaven.

Oh she is lovely Simon! Hope the maiden goes well, though looking at the weather may be some time yet

Everything needs to come out as there are joints in the wiring loom which will be impossible to get at once the turbine is in place. Rather re-make my own. Retracts need to come out for the wheel wells to be fitted as well. Almost starting again. Then there is the mysterious damage.

Can't see a way of sorting without having to cut away at the bottom skin. It's not structural, but the repair has to be invisible (bit fussy about my models).

Not much more today as I've got loads of books to mark and lessons to plan for next week. Need to source some decent heavy duty servo wire and airline for the retracts. Wish I could remember where I got my last batch of servo wire from?

is that a hole for one of the wing joiner tubes? the phenolic tube looks shattered, it will have no support in the end former, looks like crush damage? how will you repair the tube?

Just a lightening hole, the main wing tube is further back. Nothing goes in that hole.

Had a 30 minute break. After a lot of poking around I decided it would not be possible to repair with the access I had, so no choice but to cut the covering away.



Managed to leave a flap at the front to iron back down. Don't like having a seam in the covering facing the oncoming wind. Will need to cut a bit away and then support a new bit of wing skin. With a bit of luck, there should be no visible repair apart from the edge of the new covering. It's underneath, so I can live with that.

I eventually took everything out as I'm not happy with the way some things have been done. Going to take a while to get this back together, but I'm aiming for the 22nd March as this is the first jet meet of the year. Be good to take my old Intro and the new Sprint.
