If i may suggest Ian Redshaw told me once, if you cant hide it, emphasise it, cover top and bottom in another colour, a strip just wider than the damaged picece, this could go right round the leading edge, and may be go back to the trailing edge,

Just sagging covering...........no fires !! Will smarten that up once I've repaired the damage. Had to do the same to the booms and the wings, looked awful before I started.

Been having a think about the layout of all my gear. Will post a picture of just some of the stuff which needs to go in. Still need to think about the gas and fuel valve, pump, shut off valve, retract valve etc etc etc.

Well, damage is sorted and I'm happy with it.



I think the flash picks up the edges of the film, but I think I've done the best I can without recovering the underside.



Time to order some bits and get everything back in.

Nice repair job Simon

Nothing much to show for a lot of work. Stripped the retracts as they were not loctited so had been damaged (mainly the alumium trailing links were jammed where the legs had been rubbing), front retract steering arm was upside down, so no way this ever retracted properly. The wheels have brakes, but as this will be mainly flown off grass, I'm not going to bother fitting them at this point. My Intro doesn't have brakes and I've had not problems landing that on the concrete runways that I went to last year with the JMA. Also found the main legs had been fitted with different springs, so that would have been fun?

Started to plumb the airlines back in, then realised there was no fuel proofing inside the fuselage, so stopped, pulled out what I had done and fuel proofed everything in case there is ever a leak.

Will get some photo's tomorrow once some of the airlines have gone back in. All my bits arrived today and I was shocked at how little £100 gets you when fitting out a jet. Three of four bits of pipe, a couple of quick connects and some festo fittings and that's about it!!

Getting there slowly, but enjoying it.

Went with a mate to watch him go for his B at the weekend up at Wroughton. Beautiful site, such a shame they are losing it and someone is going to to cover the whole lot in solar panels. Such a big space, shame there never seems to be any compromise between the developers and a flying club that has been there for 50 odd years I think?

Anyway, the jet guys turned up in the afternoon and it was great fun having a good look over their installs and watching them blast about.

and yes, it's very sad that yet another perfect flying venue is being swallowed up in the name of progress

I'm in West Sussex, but I have a few friends who are members of Wroughton as it was such a great venue for jet flying. I only went along for moral support and that was about the only place he could get two examiners together to try and get his B.

Done a bit more today once I'd sorted out the front retract (nothing loctited and the front wheel had a 5mm bore running on a 4mm shaft.....couldn't leave it like that!!)



Got the steering wires back in and the front airlines tucked nicely away.



Still waiting for the longer servo extensions to arrive, but got a few braided and secured in the wing (seemed rude not to start connecting up to the rx as it's not in the way). Air cylinders back in and the electronic valve mounted out of the way underneath as I will not need access to this once tested (hopefully!!)



That's about it for today, need to get on with some work.

The plate with all the other bits on can be removed, but I'd rather all the fuel and pump be visible rather than airlines as leaking air doesn't do too much damage....apart from the wheels not coming down !! Never had an air system leak once it's in place and tested, hopefully this will not be any different.

Not sure what plastic block you are referring to?
