Not trying to get too excited, but I might have found the problem. After thinking through what Mike from Wren turbines said, "can't see how a turbine can have three good runs at the factory and then not work", my thoughts went back to the servo connector on the end of the rpm sensor.

I braid my servo lines so nothing can rub, and when I took the servo connector off I thought it was a bit suspect. As this is the easiest thing to change (the other option is the rpm sensor or the xicoy ecu has gone bad in the box??) I got up the morning, dived into the shed and changed the servo plug. Guess what...........I have an rpm reading. This was the reason why the turbine would not initiate a run.

Waiting patiently till 10:30am, which I think is acceptable to make some noise.

Took a bit of effort as I think the pump is still a bit stiff from being stored so long. Best thing to sort that is to get some fuel through it...........which is what I'm going to do this afternoon.

To be fair, I would not have spotted it if I hadn't talked to the boss at Wren. You learn something everyday, so will be something to check in future installs.

Didn't get to fly today due to work and marking. Got an interview next week at a really nice school, so fingers crossed.

Going to try and have a few flights in the morning. Will get my little flycam on my hat to catch a few low passes.

No photos, my little cam has died. Motor fired up perfect on both flights and was faultless. More than can be said for my second landing. Pulled up a bit short and caught a divot at the start of the strip where it is a bit bumpy. Looks like my only damage is a bent front steering pin but will check over next weekend.

Couple of dents and scratches in the film, but no structural damage to the wood. Just need to source a replacement.

Metal has torn where someone has put a very rough flat onto the shaft. Could bend back, but if it snaps on a landing it could cause a lot of damage. Think I'm going to play it safe and replace it.

Sounds like a good decision to me!

Few problems with one leg not locking down, but seemed to have sorted itself by the third landing which was a greaser. Lost the light by that point but a great day. A rare treat to fly my turbine without any others in the sky.....you get to enjoy the sound to the full.

Treated myself to one of the Turnigy cams, so will stick it on my hat next time to see if I can catch some footage of her in the air.
