That's exactly what I had in mind Garry .... Here's a pic of the U/C mounting holes .... the sheet of ply has captive nuts fitted and is only about one & a quarter inches wide.
If the U/C were to get a rearwards knock. such as hitting a stone or tuft of grass, it would try to rip the leading edge of the ply cross member out of the recess.
What is needed is triangular section to attach this cross member to the Fuz sides a lot more securely.
It may be a bit fiddly to get at, but I may even see if I can get a coat of GRP on the cross member itself.
This would have to be done from the inside & it's almost impossible to get at because the base of the battery hatch is in the way. (See pictures) .... It's not even practical to remove a piece of covering & glass it from underneath .... it would mean recovering the whole underside of the fuz.

I just own the forum .... you guys make it great thanks.

I just thought that, while I'm making sure that my batteries are going to fit, I'll check if they'll fit my Super Strider as well .... here's the fuz of the two models together & the battery size is perfect .... I may as well maiden both of them on the same day & see if I bring them both home in one piece.

The next complaint we often hear about ARTF models is the lack of glue used in assembly.
I think they must use some form of hot glue, can anyone clarify this?
Look carefully at these pictures and you may just be able to make out some blue GUNK .... many of the joins show no signs of this so I'm taking no chances with this one.
I'm going to get a syringe with a long extension & trickle PVA wood glue along every seam .... it may add a few grams but a 5-6lb model won't notice it.

You are doing exactly what I do Pol. Every joint you can see. Doesnt take long, and adds very little to the model

If the wing joiner is a carbon bar, do NOT tighten the locking screws! That will crush the bar, and next time you pull a bootful of G,- - SNAP! You'd be better with a pair of cuphooks and an elastic band.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

It does look very nice and like it will be very light. From looking at the pictures it looks good quality to

Somebody called me 'pretentious' the other day.

Can I suggest you thin the pva with some distilled water, it'll 'wick' in better.

Do it now, you may never get another chance

Yes Pol the u/c came off with not much of a landing.Mine didnt like slowing down so the landing speed tended to be at the point where the model would bounce back up.The problem was it tended to bounce into a roll and cartwheel

thin the pva with some distilled water, - - and a DROP of washing-up liquid - it breaks the surface tension of the water, and allows the mix to flow more readily.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!
