Yeah Eric, I seem to have found a time zone that suits me.
I feel a bit of a numpty now! .... I've just whipped off the cowl to remove the motor and check that I've tightened it to the mount properly.
I also needed to take some pictures of the completed front "Box" because I lost the pictures that I took along the way.
When I plugged the camera into the comp to download the pictures guess what I found???? .... the missing sodding pictures!

With these pictures I can't remember whether I'd glued the box in place or if I'd just bolted it on to see how it fitted, but you can just about make out that it's kept the motor down & side thrust angles.

The ESC strapped easily to the side of the new box and it's got plenty of airflow over it for cooling.
If you look back at these pictures on page 6 you'll see that the covering film on the sides was wrecked. Fortunately the cheap Red, Black & White film sold by HobbyKing were brilliant colour matches and it's hard to see that it's been repaired even if you get right up close.

Turning my attention to the cowl I had some minor fibre glassing repairs to do.
You'll notice that one side had a piece missing & the other side just some surface damage. I pressed a sheet of aluminium mesh into the good side to make a template of the missing piece, I also tacked in a sheet of glass cloth to the damaged side...... Note, the cloth is not impregnated with resin yet, it's just tacked at the edges to hold it in rough shape.
You need to reverse the ali template because it's wrong handed, but it's very flexible and easy to press it into shape, this will support the cloth while the resin is curing.
You can make out the ali template giving shape to the cloth, this all gets covered in resin & the excess cloth is cut off later once hard.... I used a Dremel.

I was chatting to some of the guys in Live Chat last night and one of them has asked me to post a picture of the completed model. This may upset the flow of the thread but what the hell? ... I'll still post pictures of some of the repairs I had to do.... The main thing now is to get pictures of the thing flying
