Don't even think about a Spitfire until you are a really good flyer!
Flyng a Spit is a bit like going for your first ever driving lesson in a formula 1 car!

I wouldn't even want to. I think I'd be too scared Eric. I've never driven a formula car either I just about get by driving my fiat 500 beep beep.

Any war bird is difficult to fly, I have an ARTF Mustang Razorback that I'd love to try but I know it'll go straight to the scene of the crash!

We're getting the sort of weather that leads to people getting Pneumonia & there's alot of bugs doing the rounds. I'm not sure if I've had 4 or 5 bouts since December or just one long one.
Hope Richard recovers, he's young & in the right place.
& hopefully it won't spoil BB's holiday.

40 knots of wind and heavy rain in the early hours, here. I had to have the room lights on until about 1130 to see what I was doing!

It was wild out at Fort William yesterday. Luckily, the trees have bare Branches as there would have been a good chance of big trees getting blown over. Before the gale started I was pleased to see the big stump from the downed tree at the front of my house got removed at last. In my small village, in the last year, we have had a number of big trees blown down and the authorities refuse to remove others which are also at risk as they are "healthy" trees. As were the ones that came down.

I am sure the other big advantage of having the Gnome Rotary behind the pilot was he was not showered with unburnt castor oil!

Not quite true that there was no speed control. Once in flight with plenty of cooling air the fuel economy could be improved by manually adjusting the fuel flow. This reduced the power a bit but it also increased the combustion temperature. Needed care as the lubrication was already right on the limit.

I put that on the comments below the vid! A secondary effect of not getting facefuls of castor was that it didn't affect the digestion!

I believe not popular with pilots since it would only climb when straight and in the event of a crash the pilot became the meat in a Gnome/earth sandwich!

If it's not one thing it's another, as some of you may know my dog Rex has an enduring hatred of Warthogs, he's managed to get himself tagged again, by what or how we don't know, I think a Warthog tusk over the eye. It looks terrible but the eye is okay.

He's still walking with us morning and evening.
