I'm trying to use some Dekuxe brand filler on the fuselage sheeting.
It is so fine its like powder & doesn't key in, when I try to rub it into gaps most of it just falls away & ends up on the floor. The instructions say to add some water but the balsa just seems to suck that out.
I've thought about mixing it with some adhesive, PVA or Technicoll comes to mind. Has anyone any tips?

I would suggest making a paste with Meths, It works with Hobby Lobby filler

Do it now, you may never get another chance

I don't have any meths so i've priced it up at B&Q - £4.50 for 500ml -I would probably only need a couple of teaspoonfulls.
I've just tried Technicoll on some scrap, it seems to have worked but quite difficult to mix being so thick, & the fumes are heady.

Maybe SuperPhatic, quite runny & water-based - I've just tried it, I mixed it too wet so its taking a while to dry but it looks promising.

10 minutes later - SuperPhatic will work when its properly dry

Try unscented talc (like athletes use) for a filler, just as good, and a darn sight cheaper!

I use a filler from B& Q its very light in fact when you lift the tin of the shelf it feels as if its empty, but its very good a little pricy so thats a no no for most on here

Yes "Spackle" in the US but this is the common brand in the UK. It is paste but very light weight when dry. Safe on Depron.

As a paste It is water soluble so can be thinned down to just a "wash" if required however as it uses an emulsion paint as a base when fully dry it is water proof.
Be aware if the pot is left open for any length of time (hours) then its surface dries - permanently!

It may amuse Eric but there has been a bit of a "rumpus" at the RCM&E site.
Without warning about 10 days ago RCM&E (or the publisher?) added a limit of 100Mb total on the pictures you add as attachments. If you exceed that limit then you can't add any more.
The problem is the total is "historical" so virtually all the frequent posters (including me!) have already used considerably more than the new limit. So far the only option appears to be to delete the older pictures in your past posts but that tends to make the original post, particularly if it concerned a build, almost meaningless with just words and grey spaces!
It is has been reported to the moderators and passed on to the boffins but no solution yet offered!

Even more bizzare is that the really old posts made before the site was "upgraded" a few years back are "permanent" so those post pictures are not included in the current limit.
It looks like someone did not "think it through" or perhaps they did - on the basis it cost money to see old posts!

Here's a vid of a large WW1 fighter being flown like a fighter, not stooged around like a passenger liner! -

Q, as I (and a few others on here) got banned from posting on that site, years ago, I can't say I'm really bothered.
They've shot themselves in the foot - again!

I'll bet that Valach engine turns out more power than the original rotary., well flown but I thought he needed to tone down the ailerons a little bit

Do it now, you may never get another chance

Although I remember well and stayed up for most of the Apollo launches I am not sure I can stomach staying up to 2 am for the Artemis II launch, particularly as it will be only flight. The actual moon landing will likely use the monstrous Space X rockets.
