it was a hard choice to take, but i need to stiffen the rear end up somehow.

i just hope the outer skin will make it solid enough.

well the time has come.
the fuselage is stiff enough.
so.....
gulp
gulp
we stuck the tailplane on for good.

once it has set, i can finish the fin and build the tailplane fairing.
then fit the rudder servo and fit the rudders.

yes two rudders as it spits either side of the tailplane fairing.
so closed loop on the main rudder and the top one will be linked with a torque rod.

started covering the elevators as well.

No pictures from today's work i am afraid, it would be too boring.

all i have done is make up some gussets and a couple more spars to located and fix the tailplane rigidly to the fin
elevators are now fully covered and ready for paint.
servo box for the rudder is made and can be fitted tomorrow.

Stuck two more long bits of depron onto the fuselage and then started the rear of the tailplane fairing.

then some planking ensued and you end up with this.ng

Needs trimming to length and the cone building tomorrow.
Then it is back to the front section.

Had a few issues to sort today.
the rear of the fuselage was too fat, so i had to cut it down a touch, then the tail post had to be straightened up.
then the main fin was slightly twisted.
the bin was beckoning, but i persevered and sorted all the issues.... i hope.

then i painted the rudders.

fitted the tail cone.

then i started the tailplane to fin fairing.

need some long servo leads before i can finish sheeting the fuselage, so it will be wings tomorrow.

The fin/tailplane fairing seems to have been altered quite a bit during its life.
Some photos show only the leading edge bullet, some look like your circular one, this one looks like the aft fairing was square!
