I lightly attached the arm and horn for a test mechanical differential for the aileron. The trick for me was to limit the travel so that the arm does not go below the surface of the foam at the extents. I picked an angle that is ~35 degrees off of perpendicular as the neutral point - that seemed to be the sweet spot. However, the aileron horn is slightly shorter than the servo arm. Perhaps I should make it a bit longer to reduce the aileron movement a bit?

Up is greater than down angle. Also, the epoxy'd the new servo arm extension is used in the video.

Have a look at this 10s video. If it looks good enough I can finish the joins and get on with gluing the upper skin.... -Jon

You can also reduce the throw slightly by moving the pushrod IN a hole on the servo arm. That also reduces the load on the servo.

It's always a good idea to have the servo movement on 100% in the TX and adjust the total control movement (deflection) on the aircraft. The reasoning behind this is that on modern radios the servo movement is not analogue, (the stick potentiometer is analogue but is sent to an Analogue to Digital converter) but digital, 128 steps used to be the norm but some high end TX's use 256. When you adjust the total movement on the TX, reduce to 50% you now only have 64 steps for total movement which can lead to difficulties around neutral.

Look also at dialling in some exponential on your transmitter - for ailerons and elevator. This gives you a 'softer' response around the neutral position, but still permits full deflection of the servo at full stick movement.
Some people prefer to use 'rates', which gives you a high and low (adjustable) setting - the disadvantage is, you have to remember which switch you used to select that - when you have a panic moment!
There is no switch to select with expo, it is there all the time!

Because I am a 'stick banger' I use 50 to 60% Expo, it's the only way I can fly without constantly over controlling!

I have an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro resin printer,so if anyone wants anything printed that needs detail(size permitting)then just ask.
I’m also building a Voron Trident printer with a 300mm x 300mm x 300mm volume so I can print ABS parts etc if anyone needs anything printed in ABS
Just sorting out the wiring at the moment

And finally I did get to grips with these functions. They are just shy of life changing. Smooth. And setting up differentials (albeit on top of some mechanical differential was also less fraught than I expected. Could see the differences.

I managed to get the down angle to be quite minimal while retaining the up angle. As far as I can tell the response has improved (within a limited set of flight tests).

Now I just have to replace the ESC (the T30 connector is failing) until I can re-solder the old ESC....

I ended up with 60% expo (actually -60% on this Futaba) to get that nice middle stick response. My earlier tests were at 25% (being cautious).

A rather larger beastie than my Prusa Mini. Serious printer that.

Occasionally I have wanted a bigger build volume - but the mini does take minimal space and it has forced me to be clever on the CAD designs. This ability to 'think of a thing and then make it real is the core of the fun of printers..."

Never tried ABS which would be a stretch on the Prusa with no enclosure. PLA has sufficed for my needs thus far.

Bravo that you are offering to help folk print stuff!

You know that STL files can be shared on the site. But not yet freeCAD files (unless they are zipped). -Jon

Jon sent me some stl's of centre finders, very useful if you want to drill a pipe or rod.
 
This is the result, yes so what? I here you saying, I printed them in ABS! And they haven't pulled off the build platform.

Nice.
At that thickness you stand a chance but thicker items always bend unless the whole printer is in a hot box and the finished print allowed to cool uniformly.. .
