aerobatics in the flight - - depends on who has the tx, Klippy! After all, Alex Henshaw rolled a Lanc!

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Well i have been doing some work on the nacelles today.

taken a couple of goes to get the design right, but i feel we are getting somewhere now with them.

i have weighed the model today so i can start thinking about motor sizes.
she weighs 700gms or 26oz or 1lb 10oz so far.

4s lipo is 1lb
motors and esc's another 1.5lb
u/c another 1.5lb
servos 0.5lb
allow another 0.5lb for finishing.
gives us 6lb 8oz roughly.

so i was thinking of using two 400 watt motors.

I am sure 800W will be plenty but you may have to budget for a bit more than 1 lb for the battery if it is to supply such power for any length of time.
It seems a bit odd that the retracts might weigh more than the battery.

Not sure if this is any use to you, but I am sure Newark Air Museum have a Varsity in their collection.

Now, let me think ......hmmmm, its about 3 miles from the fly in at Oakhill, isnt that a coincidence ?? :woohoo: :woohoo:

took the day off work and spent it on the varsity.
I have sheeted the wings completely now.
Started working on sheeting the nacelles, it needs to be done with a combination of sheet and planks.

The wings slid in under the edge of the nacelles, might help hide the join a touch. :P

Glued the wing centre section in today and then filled in all the gaps round the wing.

I have left an opening in the underside of the fuselage to allow access for wiring.

The idea is to have a removable section in the cupola to let me get at the rx.
