Due to what I consider very weak undercarraige mounting, after getting fed up rebuilding/fixing it back on I rebuilt the underside using built up light ply over most of the front. No more of that problem

The u/c has had some reinforcing carried out so we will see how it goes. Also manually readjusted the controls so can trim it better.

lose the wing legs, cut away a 2 inch piece of the underside of the fus bottom sheet, using some triangular section, glue a piece of 4mm ply in the place, and mount a dural undercart, turn the thing into a taildragger

Ooh Sarah ahahahahaha your hysterical,actually for the 2nd week i missed the dustman so had to climb into the bin and tread the rubbish down to make room for another week and had trouble getting out.. Back on topic,Havent tackled the u/c but what worries me is the dreadful left pull this thing has.

TORQUE REACTION

This reaction involves Newton's Third Law of Physics - which states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. Which translated to planes means that as the internal engine and propeller are rotating in one direction, an equal force is trying to rotate the aircraft in the opposite direction.

When the airplane is air born, this force is acting on the longitudinal axis, tending to make the airplane roll. Today's planes are designed with an engine offset to counteract this effect of torque.

When the plane is on the ground during takeoff roll, an additional turning tendency is induced by this torque reaction. As the left side of the plane is forced down, it is putting more weight on the left main landing gear. This effect results in more ground friction or drag, more on the left than the right causing even more turning to the left.

Not strictly true Sarah, the actual cause of it turning left is the action of propwash on the fin and it is corrected with right side thrust and NOT engine torque.

The engine torque thing is a very common misconception, if you fly it inverted you will then have left thrust.

Torque is a twisting force that can only be countered by twisting force in the opposite direction.
On the ground and at slow speed only the undercarriage can generate it, once in the air it can only be generated aerodynamically, either by the ailerons or by yawing the plane so one wing generates more lift than the other.
As Old Fart points out countering engine torque by yawing the plane with fixed side thrust does not work when flying inverted!

As I understand it yawing on take off is a combination of engine torque acting on the under carriage and to a much larger degree by the prop wash being effected by the proximity of the ground causing the twisting column of air to 'bend' so when it strikes a tail fin it causes the plane to turn.
This turning effect largely disappears once clear of the ground although the effect of the engine torque remains.
