First off, check for lateral (side to side) balance.
Take the wing off the fuz, put the two halves together, and look along the trailing edge. (assuming no dihedral!) - it should be straight.
If it's a dihedral wing, put it onto a flat surface, weighted in the middle. Fiddle around until both wing-tips are the same height above, at the leading edge, then compare the two trailing edges, and the two mid-spans, to see if they are the same.
Put the model back together, then compare the distance from leading edges to the top of the fin, and then to the leading edges of the tailplane.
If it all still looks straight, measure from the left main leading edge to the right tail leading edge, and then from the right main to the left tail, and see if that is the same!
Another (unlikely) thing to look for is that both wing halves are the same section! It has been known to get a mis-matched pair!
I've mentioned before that one model I built from a plan just didn't look right, then I realized that the left wing had one more panel in it than the right wing did, but the two halves were exactly per plan!
if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Ask yourself this ... if it does not change when dropping the power right down & is not affected by engine RPM .... does the sodding thing glide straight without an engine?????? ....... If you're talking about the twisting motion of the air coming off the prop.... then this cannot apply according to Mr Newton ....Any twisting air would produce an equal and opposite reaction on the prop, thus turning the model in the opposite direction..... similar to trying to pick yourself up by your own boot laces.Old Fart wrote: Not strictly true Sarah, the actual cause of it turning left is the action of propwash on the fin and it is corrected with right side thrust and NOT engine torque.
Also ... any air turbulence is ironed out in the trimming for level flight ..... Just get the thing to glide straight first .... anything after that is extra trimming..... If it won't glide straight ... forget it!

Not true Pol, if you watch the prop wash from a model in the ground at full power you can see the grass being blown and it's not going straight down the fuselage, and Newton's law doesn't apply because what we are talking about is a completely different phenomenon.

tracked dead straight on the ground, but once in the air it turned left and then rolled.
turns out it was an aileron problem, one was warped slightly.
