Just a thought - is the fuel foaming in the tank, because of a vibration that stops when the model is in the air?

Never had that happen yet its a new kit but I feel its engine tuning that will cure the problem.Do have a spare engine which may have to be fitted,no big job.

A long shot but as it flies ok once in the air could it be the bouncing on the take off run causes the clunk to bounce above the fuel level?

Dont think so always ensure clunk has a good length of tube without fouling anything and first flights were fine, and our patch is fairly smooth gets rolled regularly. My priority is actually the tail wheel .It takes so much to get it to steer straight that I am unable to concentrate on the engine.Ive done the usual thing and held the model vertical for 15 seconds

So another trip to the field to sort the TA out 1st 2 attempts bit of tuning and checking and at the point of the revs coming up to take off it stopped again,Flew the Harmomn Rocket for a while.Only myself and Pete there and we get on really well so good chats,Pete decided to go so I thought I would give it another go.I decided to change the plug for an OS 6 and it sounded crisp and ready for action.Gave it the gun and off it went ,a slight hesitation and then away like a rocket. In the air it would rev much higher than the HR engine in fact the prop was unloading so a bigger prop is called for.An excellant flight ,the side wind affecting the model more than the HR.Came in to land but was more of a handful ,landed ok but the u/c fell off again. There is so little holding it on so more beefing up called for.

Ive strengthened the front part of the u/c mount today placing 2 corner pieces on and then replacing the underside with ply just to add so much strength but not to much,Just needs covering but the weather forecast isnt looking promising

It seems to be the failing of ARTF models, and i have reached the stage that when I buy a new one the first thing i do is strengthen the U/C mounting, no matter how strong it appears.

Had a really good flight with the Travel Air Sunday but when I went for a 2nd flight the wheel fell off,so it was fortunate it happened when it did.But I had landed and taxied it back to my spot so the nut must of only just fallen off .Found the washer but not the nut.
