Dead easy to make BB ... Here's one end of one of mine. Instead of using wooden dowel, use some heavy piano wire & you've got an automatic tensioner.THE BLACKBIRD wrote: Next time ill make a proper one Klipy and yes it went a bit slack when i used it, as you can see by the foam, another lesson learned, see what i mean Dean
if you dont have a go you will never do it.
I used a wooded brush handle for the main body of the bow on this one .... I've also made them from plastic pipe from any DIY shop.
The most important thing is to use the correct wire though .... you need something with a bit of electrical resistance .... NICHROME wire is probably the best. It's the sort of thing they use on the old style electric fire elements & is very cheap.
It's no good just using something like a guitar string .... you need to pass a lot of current through it to generate any heat ..... & the connecting cable gets hot.
The bow in this picture will cut widths up to about 40 inches & will run on 22 - 24V & only pulls about 1 - 2 Amps.
I use power supplies, lead acid batteries .... or even get an hours continuous running on two 3S 1800mAh lipo's in series.
I even run it through a footswitch so I don't keep burning things when I put it down.
I just own the forum .... you guys make it great thanks.

I added a former to the front of the nacelle for the inlet air hole
Then i put the outer ply skin on
Got some more of Pol's foam and started the front moulding round the intake, still working on the final shape inside the moulding
That is the access hatch
Make it up as we go
